The natural way of learning a language should ideally begin with listening. But most often, this is the one area of language learning that most of us over look.

It should ideally follow LSRW. Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing

How did we learn English? Let's take a look at it:

1. We started with English alphabet. At school, we were taught how to write ABC even before we learnt to pronounce it properly.

2. Then, we were taught to read. We learnt to frame sentences and read simple sentences.

3. But we couldn't speak in English. It was long after that we could manage to speak.

4. Finally, listening ..something that we still haven't taken care of.

So, here we have actually taken the inverse method. That's the main reason why most of us do not have a strong foundation.

Too Smart

Hi All,

I like to share one incident that happened during my initial school days. When I am doing my UKG, one day I was ill and asked my mother to do my homework. She felt pity on me and she does my homework. On the next day also I asked her to do the same and I gone for playing, she too does my homework. Again on the day after the next day I asked her to do the same she told big no. But I keep on begging her for longtime finally, she told okay so I told her thank you so much and I gone for playing.

On the next day morning when I opened and checked my homework note, I was shocked because my mother didn't do my homework and I don't know what to do. Since my class teacher will became very rude and beat nicely if anyone doesn't complete the homework. So I am wondering what to do and how to escape from her beating. I decided to act like I am feeling giddy, because a week ago in my school one boy felt giddy and he was taken with lot of care in the school and nobody even scolded him. So when my class teacher came near my desk I fall down by acting like what I have decided to do.

She called office boy and took me to the office room and made me lye on the office table and woke me then gave lemon juice and biscuits. Then my class teacher called my father over the phone and informed the incident. Then my uncle came to take me to home and I felt really happy because of two things. First thing is I have escaped from my class teacher's beating and the second thing is I am leaving school at 11AM. Until I am inside the school campus I continued acting like I am still tired. But once my uncle take me out of the school I told him now, I am normal nothing to worry.

On the way to home I was really very angry on my mother for not doing my homework and also for fooling me. When I reached home I ran into the home and searching for my mother and found she was cooking. I thrown the school bag towards her and started scolding her nicely like she didn't do her homework and also told her I wont ask anything from you hereafter and wont talk to you any more. Then she started begging me like anything to make me talk to her. Finally in the evening around 6PM, I told her to forgive you have to do my homework daily and also told I acted like feeling giddy in school for not doing homework. She surprised and told me that I am too smart and from that day mostly she was doing my homework during my UKG school days.

Happy weekend

Hi Friends,
Here i don't want to say anything related my work. I know its boring all of you to read. Last few days i posted such a post. The reason is that i have involved much and deep in to the work. Today morning i had a meeting with siva for "Pricing application" . Atlast,the basic test cases are completed. when i come back to my seat only i realized that today is friday. oh how the days are passed i have to ask some one. tomorrow also am planning to come to office is any one give company to me. There is still 2 iReports are pending in "purchase order" application.I have to complete it before monday then only am able to involve in "Pricing application" freshly. I planned to go for movie tomorrow night with my new friends. I don't know whether my work permit me to go to movie. Its a night show only still i have fear because i have that much of work. Happy weekend friends enjoy the weekend before going to leave the office just see my post and compare it with my first or second post and comment whether my grammar is improved or not.

The Power of Reading

Someone rightly said, when he said “Reading is a means of thinking with another person's mind; it forces you to stretch your own.” I have always found this true and many a times reading has also been my only companion through thick and thin. It gives you an unconditional companionship that only a true friend can offer. This is one reason why I will always cherish reading. Be that while travelling by bus or when I’m cuddled in my bed during a lazy weekend afternoon. Reading takes you to new frontiers of thought and provides you with a wider outlook of everything.

Try taking up reading…you never know maybe you’ll find it addictive.

Google Image Swirl is the new feature from Google Labs. It is designed to search images in the internet very easily. It brings the related image in hierarchical structure. Search bar comes with autocomplete and multi-language support. It serves as group or batch of images. Each batch has subgroup with relevant images.

Purchase update

Hi,

        Today morning I have started with the Purchase order forms UI design.  After that I started working on the Purchase order creation flow, that time only I came to know that some of the fields are missed out in one application object.  And I added this correction in the discussion forum. 

       Tomorrow I have the purchase review meeting with Ganesh and Henk, I think I done my part. Application development is going as per the sprint.

A week before while I was surfing the net I read an article on leadership quality in that our Ex-President Dr.Abdul Kalam statement was notated as, a political leaded or even a technical leaded should have six traits.

1) Vision

5) work with integrity and succeed with integrity

6) Must know to manage success especially failure

Following it he shared his experience to emphasis the sixth trait. In 1973 ISRO have decided to launch the Rohini Technology Payload (RTP) satellite with Indian’s launch vehicle. At August 1979 SLV3 rocket was launched with RTP this course of launching satellite to the orbit has four phases, due to technical fault at second phase rocket burst and falls into the Bay of Bengal. Dr. Abdul Kalam was the Project Director at that time. This big failure follows with the press conference on the same day. The Chief of the ISRO Dr. Satish Dhawan takes over the press meeting and confessed as “We have failed for the first time and definitely within a year our team will succeed”. With this same sprit the whole entire team worked and made the launch of Rohini (RS-1) to be a successful launch on July 1980. That same day the press conference was held. While at this time the organization chief Dr. Satish Dhawan dedicated his success to Dr. Abdul Kalam by asking him to take over the press conference.

Mobile Number Portability (MNP)

Hi All,

I like to share some information about MNP and some statistical data about it. MNP was introduce in India on 20/01/2011 by TRAI, but MNP was first implemented in Harayana as a test run on 25/11/2011. MNP means mobile subscribers can port their mobile number from one operator to another and the master database will be managed by a third party firm. In India, for Zone-I(Northern & Western Region), Syniverse has been appointed with the MNP and related issues while for Zone-II(Southern & Eastern Region), it is Telcordia. But previously, its maintained by the individual operators for their subscribers.

As per the reported data, till 5th February, 2011, about 17.11 lakh subscribers have submitted their requests to different service providers for porting their mobile number.Out of these requests, around 2.29 lakh pertains to Haryana service area wherein MNP was implemented earlier.

In rest of the country, in Zone-I maximum number of requests have been received in Gujarat (1.67 lakhs) followed by Rajasthan (1.44 lakhs) whereas in MNP Zone-II maximum number of requests have been received in Karnataka (1.16 lakh) followed by Tamilnadu service area (1.14 lakh).

24 hours a day is not enough need more

Hi Dudes,
You all know that am working in two project now. The projects are Purchase order and pricing application. In Purchase order am working with i reports when i complete the report and run the report it works fine after some times everything will gone . Reported many issues to developers. In pricing app am writing test cases now. Due to this both am having no time at all.Am coming to office in the early morning itself to complete the work. In the night also am coming back to office to work some time.In the evening am going to gym to develop my body. In the night am having supper at 11pm then going to bed at 12. Still many things are pending i think so i need some more hours in a day. Is it possible to increase the hours in a day.if its possible comment on my post. Due to my busy schedule am writing this blog because i have to improve my communication skill. This is the good way to improve my grammar. See you tomorrow bye for now. Am very happy this week i don't know how i past last 3 days today also almost gone waiting for weekends to spend some leisure time but planned to come to office still some i reports are pending...........

Purchase Order Application Experience

Hi Buddies,

                  Good evening to all.  Before starting the application, I thought it is very small functionality application like our old Purchase Order. But it has lot of functionality in it. These application requirements taught me basic business knowledge in the Purchase domain. And also integration with sales through DocEx is quite interesting but the problem is records needs to be synchronized periodically. Today we had the discussion about the functionality and I have added few more application objects which is missed out in the requirement document. I think this is the first time; I am spending lot of time for the UI and grouping fields. I need to thank Senthil for the workshop. Application development going smoothly, I hope I will complete the application as per the sprint.

Labeling

Today I my presentation was postponed to tomorrow, more over I hope, within this week end we’ll come up with the solution approach for labeling in CPF. I got an opportunity to know about the join quires in depth today. I would like to complete the labeling functionality within two months, i.e. first week of April. Though I don’t know the future, I will give my best. We will wait to see the status until April!!! J

Updates on Pricing App - 09 Feb 2011

Hi All,

In morning session, Renishya and me reviewed the field labels, application object names, form names, application tab names and privilege names for the Pricing App and made the necessary changes in the Sprint-1 Design and Form Templates. Then added five new forms in the Sprint-1 Design and Form Templates after validating against the functional document of the application. Also rescheduled the Sprint-1 accordingly. During the afternoon session, completed the UI designing for all the forms that are assigned to me. In simple, the day consists of both discussion and paper work for UI design.

Updates on Pricing App - 08 Feb 2011

Hi All,

In morning session, Velshankar and me prepared the Sprint-1 of the Pricing App implementation phase. During the afternoon session, Velshankar and me sat with Senthil and Nizar individually and prepared the Sprint-1 for their tasks. During the evening session, Velshankar, Siva, Nizar and me had a discussion regarding the doubts that we have on the Functional Document of the Pricing App and those were need to be discussed with Henk. In simple, yet another day full of meeting/discussions.

Always difficult to follow during the initial days!!!

                          Today I was involved in lot of activities; those are to fix the URL generation issue for the university server, and issue in upgrading Sales Configuration application to the latest version. Moreover I supposed to finish the DB structure today itself but I can't able to complete, still indexing need to be finalized.

                         So fully I was seemed to be busy on that day, still one more discussion is there for labeling I don't know when it will be :) Hope tomorrow I will prepare the sprint sheet for this labeling. Let’s wait for a day...

Simple and Error Free

I'm happy that most of the team members have taken up blogging seriously and have started posting. Here, our main aim is to improve the language and for that:

1. You should do something for improving your language on a daily basis apart from posting something on this blog.

2. When you post something on this blog, try to use simple language. This will help you to minimise the mistakes that you make. Once you can frame simple sentences without any glaring mistakes, you can think of using ornamental language. Until then, keep it simple.

At last it worked

After working for more than 4 hrs, i got a solution to import the Application.

I am working on the Project Management application to move that application to Enterprise directory.I feel very hectic to work on NL servers.Even importing small application will consume my breath, i was totally arrested to do that task.I packed the application and i pushed the application to Enterprise directory.But i didnt find that in the Enterprise directory.Later i found that there was an issue in server that Development, Acceptance and Live tenant not belongs to same business partner.I asked help from renjith to complete this task of adding all tenant.

I was so happy that i have come across a issue to which i got a solution but that happiness didn't stay with me.Still the application didn't appear and  i deleted the application from Server and DB.Again i packed the application then i found that in Enterprise directory.Now let me check it out whether the import in Live tenant works fine.........

A glad day

I thank god for this glad day. At morning I plan my schedule to complete the application for outlook file read and save functionality before 5 o clock. Work went smoothly so as I planned I have completed it on time. Later ganesh and saji reviewed it, in that I dint get any negative feedbacks from them. Now I have started with the integration part with CPF.

Need a solution

Hi Guys,
Yesterday night when i went sleep the clock ticked 12pm. Its the first time on week days am seeing 12. Because in my room daily one conversation will be goes on in the night so it take too much time to sleep. But i wont participate in this conversation because my habit is to wake up early in the morning. The reason why it take too much time for me sleep late yesterday means there is one bet between me and srithar. The bet is whether i go to gym for 3 months or not.The bet cost is 2100. Already there is one bet between me and srithar already it gone from me. The old bet amount is 1500. If i lose in this bet i give to srithar 2100. If he lose he have to give 600 rs to me is it correcr or not. My room mate nachi says i have to give another 900 to srithar how its possible.Mathematics logic is missing there right who are agree with me....

My Second post

 Hi Buddies,


               Woke up this morning with sleepy eyes. As usual discussions in the night shrinks my sleeping hours, finally slept at 11PM.My day starts at 6:15AM , I started jogging at 6:40 AM, my jogging friend joined me near KGISL Collge. While walking I listened 'Moon and Sixpences' chapter 7 to 12, anyway i cant understand completely but it taught me some new words. These morning habits give me more energy and happy for a whole day.


              I will try to update my last weekend experience in Palakad with my friend Krishna in upcoming posts :)

Being happy is something you have to learn. I often surprise myself by saying  "Wow, this is it. I guess I'm happy"

Hi All,

In morning session Velshankar, Siva and me had a discussion on the application design of the Pricing App. During the afternoon session we had a discussion with Henk regarding the doubts that we had in the data model design. Then again we had discussion regarding the application design for an hour. During evening session Velshankar and me were working on the Form Templates for the Pricing App and we have almost completed but little bit of fine tuning is required to make the Form Templates perfect. In simple, the day is full of meeting/discussions.

“From the past, do the present for the future”

                When I was entering into my engineering college, I decided that ‘I will become a software engineer ‘. At that it didn’t give value for my career.  It happens in this year, now I decided that ‘I will become a Professional Software Engineer for the international standard in all the respects. I hope we as a team will see the change soon……

                From the past, I came to know about my strengths in all the respects. If I rate myself with respect to 10 means, I could give as follows,

Technical (Other than our environment)             -              6

Do the present, to improve my speaking communication skill I’m going to give much more importance. Because even though I communicate my thoughts very clear to others very well, this corporate culture is expecting a professional way of communication.  What am I going to do for this?         I knew about my grammar, once I concentrate on grammar while speaking means definitely I can improve that, but the problem I faced here is the lack of words….. When I started speaking at particular time I was struck for getting the words so I tried to adopt/thinking other words to match the same meaning. 

For the future, I thought that I will note it down the new words every day in paper, so that I will explain the things in crisp. The assumption is every day I will note at least five words in paper and more over the words are not so complicated but most meaningful.

Today I had one round of technical discussion for labeling functionality with Saravanan, JK and Ajay. Now I got an idea to implement the changes in backend.  Tomorrow I will try to explain  the labeling  functionality.

Monday

As I said early, I decided to contribute some thing to this blog "VburgSkills" today. So I started off with changing the title of the blog, then the template and finally the backdrop. Hmm... for the day (Professional part) I thought of importing the project management app into the AT environment, I collected the list of required data for that, but I was required for the so called "White labelling" project. It is the third time I'm into this. To be frank its not actually "White labelling" its "White washing". Okay its up to the them, they have given the requirement, I'm ready for designing and implementing it.

Well I'm now working in the "HTML realization" part of it. I can say that I'm going be busy for the next couple of weeks at least. Hope this work come out well even though there is no new learning involved! You can see my progress any time here. Ooops! I'm caught if am not progressing, well that's the intention. Fine guys (and a girl) in my team that's it for the day signing off.

Start-End of day

My today's work start with a great welcome, as when i start to work my web server get crashed, this pushed back my starting time of my work to afternoon. This sudden crash of my web server make me to install cordys newly. seldom i dint complete it so i just switch to start my work on the outlook integration by writing the back end logic and it went on smooth.

New Year Resolutions

Every New Year I will have a set of New Year Resolutions which I conveniently forget to follow. Yes, this year too I have. Let’s see how many I’ll follow. I’ll tell you about three things in that list:
1. Communication Session: Make the communication session effective. This blog is also a part of the effort. I have faith in my team that they will make it happen. I have decided to give myself a few months if it doesn’t yield any result or evident improvement, I’ll give up and stop taking the session.
2. Blogging: It is something that I wanted to do for a really long time. I started blogging some time back in October. During my school and college days I had the habit of writing diary and I had to stop that habit abruptly. I always used to think that no one will ever be interested in reading my diary (which was of epic magnitude) but I underestimated my mom and cousin. I gave up. Not only did I give up the habit of writing diary but the very habit of writing itself was lost there and through blogging I hope to revive it.
3. Reading: There was a time when I used to read around 20 plus books a year. Joined MBA and lost the habit. I have promised myself that I’ll read more books this year. I’ll manage to find time to read and blog from my busy schedule of playing a multitude of roles.

God knows that I’m super busy but at least I’m happy that I don’t get much time to sit and lament. You know what the best part is, when you find that what you are doing is helping others in some way. That’s the best reward any one can get. I’m happy that my team has taken up this seriously and has started blogging and this inspires me to blog. Thank you all…

Issue Report

Hi Friends,
Today morning started my work with high energy and enthusiasm. I decided to complete the i-reports with in after noon . I put my hard work to complete it in a time . When i seen the result in an accurate manner it makes me feel better. Then published the i-Report to the cordys layer. Then there is some changes in report so i make the changes in the i-report suddenly the issues are arises like insects at 6 pm. I don't know what to do at the time am searching on the floor suddenly i saw the jagadesh face. I make me happy i called him to solve the issue Jagadesh said its a issue in i-Report. Daily am facing some critical issues in the i-Report its not working properly. I logged two cases in support portal the incident id are TPFINC964,TPFINC965 i dont know how much time it take to solve this issue. I cant do anything without this issue got solved. Whether its a i report or issue report.

Friday

I was busy all the time Friday, will try to contribute something at least today by EOD.

Weekend Driving

Hi all,

This weekend went very soon. I spent mostly on driving. My driving started on friday evening itself. I had lot of things to purchase this weekend. Some of them were successful and unsuccessful. I spent Friday evening and Saturday for collecting the information about laptop price and model and buying it. Earlier i planned not to buy Dell laptop. But atlast it happened. I bought a Dell laptop Inspiron 14R I3/4G/500GB/1GB Graphics card. I had good experience. There came a cyclic dependency. Windows Xp cannot be installed on I3 processor. BSNL EVDO driver for internet will work only on windows xp. I already got Windows 7 Ultimate version. I installed windows 7. It went well. Then i was very eager to check if my internet will work on it. I tried to install the driver for internet. First time it was not successful because i didn't insert the USB Modem on time. It throwed Time out error. The second time it was successful.I enjoyed working on it.
Sunday i wasted most of the time in searching mobile. Most of the them didn't suit me. So i postponed the mobile purchase plan for a short duration. Mostly waiting for LG Optimus 3D. In the evening, we went to chennai silks and bought some items that will be useful for me in NL.
It was a driving weekend.

Hi Friends

From today morning till now i created one i report for purchase application. I struggled in many things so i decided to get the help from velshankar he helped me a lot. Then i created a report i faced some issue then get a help from developers in the after noon and completed that report at last in some good manner. When am previewing the report it not asked the inputs so i decided to help get the help from velshankar once again. Then i called him and asked what i did wrong. Suddenly he said we have to close and open the report once again.With in a fraction of seconds he clicked the "X" button. The window gets closed at the time i don't know its the last time am viewing that report. When he opens the report again it says some error now. Did any one knows how to shall the issue.

Lessons Learned:

Good Thing:

Get a knowledge from friends it guide you to get the knowledge very quickly.

Bad Thing:

Do not blindly do what the trainer says. Think and do.
