Yesterday's Update

I have started with Philips certify application. I have tested split functionality and MS-SQL integration flow.  I have corrected the Questions, Privileges and Design spread sheet based on the requirement. No more interesting work in the Philips application. UI proposal is also not yet ready.

One interesting thing was cricket. India played against the current world champions Australia in quarter final match in Ahmadabad. We had the communication session from 4.30PM to 5.30PM. I started to home at 6 PM.  All my roommates also joined with me. In between Indian batsman were not played well and they increased the heart beat . So we planned to switch off the TV and went to CFC. There we had the good dinner. While coming back to the home, crackers let us know the result of the match. India won in the quarters.  We were happy about the match result. I traffic in the city was too low due to the match.

This complete 2.9 years I had a better experience in application development. While this time it gives me a different experience in all aspects like, how to architect an application as it can experience on different way of customization, how to write code in an object oriented fashion and so on. After many refractors happens now the application is in a better shape.

Time to fly back

Hi All,

Most of you knew that tomorrow, Velshankar and I flying back to our country. This twenty eight days went just like that and had a very great experience in Netherlands both officially and personally. Today, Jan Hasselman gave KT on Sales Configurator application and that will be hand over to our team from 1st of April. Talking about the application, well its very challenging for us to maintain application and customizing it as customer needs.

Since today was our last working day in the Putten office for the Pricing App, I like to take photos with all Netherlands colleagues and you can see those in above and below images. Today evening, Hans Don gave Velshankar and me a memento and told us that he was very happy with progress of the Pricing App. We both shook hands with all Netherlands colleagues in our Vanenburg Software basement. Will share the rest once I reach our country and waiting to have food using hand :).
Thanks,
Ramesh Kumar Gurusamy.

Finally went to Amsterdam Part-2

Hi All,

This blog also will continue the experience that I had in the Amsterdam trip, I came to know lots of facts about Amsterdam from a travel guide arranged by Henk ten Voorde. The travel guide was giving facts about Amsterdam for more than two hour by taking us around the city, you can see him in the below image. Around 5PM, he showed us famous cafe in Amsterdam and told us, we all can spend sometime over there and he left.

Then we spend half an hour in that cafe and came out from the cafe around 5:30PM and already scheduled that we are going to have our dinner in Thai restaurant (a Thailand restaurant). So we all started walking to the restaurant which was a kilometer from the place where we are at that time. We reached the restaurant by 6PM, and had some Indian food over there. All Netherland colleagues were fond of Indian foods and they like the Indian spicy food especially Frans Clements. He used to ask me, that if he come to Coimbatore I have to take him to good restaurant where we can get very spicy Indian foods. I told him that Yes sure.

In the restaurant, we had very spicy food which was more spicy than our Indian food and all Netherlands colleagues told us that they loved it. But from me, it won't even come near to our Indian food taste, since food was only spicy not tasty as we used to get in India I too told the same to Frans. He told, Oh is it? Then you should take me to those restaurants in Coimbatore. After finishing dinner, we came out from the restaurant around 8PM and we again walk all the way to the car parking area. Do you know, what's the cost for parking a car for six hours in Amsterdam? it was thirty one euros after seeing that from the ticket machine I was shocked. Then Frans dropped us around 9:15, he wished us good night and left.

Philips Certify application update

Yesterday we had the discussion among the project manager and UI consultant regarding the application UI. I suggested one proposal; similarly others also suggested their proposals. Finally we came to the conclusion, with this input Senthil is working in the final UI proposal.  Anyway we would work on the forms after getting the proposal. So still that time we planned to work on the flows part. In the flow part mostly we completed all flows except Join and Split flows. So Mustafa took split functionality flow and I took join process. While doing the join flow I came to know that it is not easy. Hard in the sense we have to repeat same activity again and again. So I tried to normalize the traditional business process management steps. I thought of form the xml from the input to process the flow further, but through the string formulation I couldn’t achieve the XML formation in flow. I can do it through Java Script but it may cause some problem in future. So I dropped the plan. I started implementing the join functionality through traditional development method.

Today I have started with the join flow testing. I found some error in the flow, so I corrected those issues. It took more than 2 hours to complete testing as well as correction. Each and every day I am learning new things in the CPF even though I am working in the CPF for almost three years. Afternoon I started testing the business rules. Mostly it works fine. In the business flow still we have some doubts, waiting for answers from the Richards. This project is teaching me the business knowledge in the packing sector.

Their design document was not clear for us. This week only we got the requirement fully. One problem here is we are depends upon the consultant. Consultant is depends upon the Philips people, I think it is creating some delay in the requirement gathering. If this project will successfully deploy in the customer place means we will get more projects from them. I hope we will get more projects from them. Thanks for hearing folks.

Lunch with Jan Baan

Hi All,

Today, Velshankar and I had the opportunity to have lunch with Jan Baan, this was the second time we had lunch with him in the castle and Hans Don also with us. Jan Baan asked about the progress of the project, Hans told him that customer was very much satisfied about the application. After hearing that Jan Baan was over very happy and told Yes Yes.. great guys that's what we need. Then we discussed about the future projects that we would get from Getronics. Jan Baan told us that he like to see more Indians working from the Putten office, Hans respond to him that in the future most our team member will work from Putten.

Then we had a talk regarding the Sales Configurator application role in Getronics, also from April onwards Sales Configurator application will be maintained by our team. Velshankar and I will get KT from Jan Hasselman on coming thursday, so that its easy for us to maintain the application. Then Hans Don told him, Facebook API can be consumed in our CPF. Then Hans asked me to explain it, Then I explained Jan Baan how we can integrate Facebook and CPF. Then he asked what about LinkedIn and Twitter? we told him that's also possible and we can do it, he was excited about the power of CPF.

Then I requested Jan Baan that can I take a snap of you, he smiled and told Yes Yes and why not together? After lunch, Hans Don took snap for us, you can see those in the above images. Around 3PM, he came to our workstation and asked guys show me the demo, we showed him the Facebook integration and also our Pricing App. I explained him step by step how we are integrating with Facebook, then he discussed something with Hans in Dutch for a while, then he told good stuff keep it up and he left.

Thanks,
Ramesh Kumar Gurusamy.

Philips Certify application update

Hi All,

As everyone knows I am working in Philips Certify application along with Mustafa. Morning we have started with changing the UI as per our UI consultant comment. We planned to show demo to Richards and Henk at 2.30PM. As per our plan we showed the demo to them. We have got lot of idea regarding the application requirements as well as user interface. They are happy with print option UIs’.

Now Requirement is clear for us. We have to implement all those comments which were proposed in the meeting, as earlier as possible. We have decided to change the UI based on the senthil’s new proposal. We hope we will get it by tomorrow evening, up to that I don’t have much work in my part. I have to check with Mustafa and I plan to get some part from him. I have to start with that.

Finally went to Amsterdam

Hi All,

Finally, Velshankar and I went to Amsterdam along with our Vanenburg colleagues in Netherlands and the Cordys CoE team so totally we were thirteen. After lunch, around 1PM we started from our castle for a trip to Amsterdam which was sixty six kilometers from our castle and we reached Amsterdam Central at 2:10PM. Frans brought the tickets for all Vanenburg colleagues for a cruise. Since Cordys colleagues already booked on friday, initially we planned to go Rotterdam on tuesday. But we all thought better to go together, so last minute we decided to go together to Amsterdam.

Then we went for a trip in ship around the Amsterdam and the trip was for a hour, it was pleasure to come around Amsterdam in the ship and I love it :). During the trip, I took lots of snaps and you can see few in the below images, also if you wish you can see all those images in the share folder. Also had a talk with Henk ten Voorde(Customer Project Manger, Cordys) during the talk he told us that in the future our company may maintain Valeo application that were built using CPF.

In the below image you can see one of the famous church in The Netherlands which is constructed during the thirteenth century and also came to know lots of famous places in Amsterdam. Do you know? Amsterdam was formed some eight hundred years ago and it was the richest city in the world during the seventeenth century.

To be continued..

Ramesh Kumar Gurusamy.
